In The Big Tub

Last night Mackenzie took her first bath in the big bathtub. She had a great time kicking and splashing, and she looked like a little prune because we let her play for so long. She is still not feeling very well, and was up about every hour last night because the cold medicine we gave her made her hyper and wide awake. So hopefully tonight will be more restful for everyone!

Sweet Girl

This is a picture of Mackenzie on Sunday - she looked so sweet! She is actually having kind of a rough week, though. On Tuesday she had a fever all day, and since she already had a check up scheduled for Friday, they went ahead and moved it to Wednesday. The doctor thinks it is just a virus, but she was still running a little bit of a fever today, and she is coughing and all stuffed up. He said everything else looks good, but he wants her to come in for a weight check in about a month because she has dropped to the 25% for height and the 10% for weight. She is now 26 1/4" tall and 16 lbs 4 oz. He isn't too concerned, but just wants to be sure. Hopefully she will be feeling better in the next day or two!

Bath Time!

Some pictures of Mackenzie being goofy in the tub the other night. She is such a ham. The middle picture is of her staring lovingly at her lotion. She LOVES lotion bottles - it's kind of strange. :)

5 Things Meme

Deb tagged me for a fun meme! 5 Things...

Five minutes to yourself. How would you spend them?
Drinking my latte that I'm going to buy with the next question, and reading a magazine. Five minutes isn't enough for anything good!

Five dollars to spend right now. How or where would you spend it?
Grande Vanilla Latte from STARBUCKS! Then I would spend the rest at garage sales.

Five items in your house you could part with right now.
Oh, this one's hard. Matt's guns (I hope he doesn't read this!), all the diapers in Mackenzie's trash can (ewwwww), I don't know, I could part with a lot of things. I wouldn't mind parting with this entire duplex if I could move in to a real house!

Five items in your house you absolutely, positively could never part with.
Okay, not counting Mackenzie, Matt, and the cats... All our pictures, the computer, even though its not technically mine, the camera, Mackenzie's baby book, I couldn't think of another one, so Matt said my coffee pot. :) Oh, maybe all my beads and craft stuff.

Five words you love.
ba ba/da da/hiya/diddy/ah ya ya ya - pretty much anything Mackenzie says, or from Matt, "I picked up the house" or "Go ahead and buy that." :) Sorry, that's totally not sentimental at all. Of course I love the words "I love you" and "Thank you". I'm sure my very favorite will be mommy!

Okay, I will tag Kacie if she reads this!

Kitties and Cousins

Greyson and Chloe were all cuddled up last night in the basket of Mackenzie's stroller.
About 2 seconds before I took this picture Chloe was jumping, spread eagle, on top of Kenzie's Nemo ball. It would roll and she would fall off. It was hilarious. Of course as soon as I grabbed the camera she sat down next to it like a little angel. "Who me, jump on top of the ball?!"

Monday was Donell's birthday, so Gary, Donell, Becky, and all the kids came over for dinner. This is a picture we took of all the girl cousins - Karlee, Mackenzie, Madison, and Destiny. The pressure's on for a boy :)

So Big!

Top to bottom: Mackenzie is pulling up to her knees, and trying to go all the way up. Today she was fussing in her crib after I laid her down for her nap. I went in to check on her and she had pulled up to her knees on the side of the crib. That made me really nervous, so as soon as Matt got home from church tonight he lowered her crib down so there's no way she can fall out. While my mom was here Mackenzie started doing "So Big!" She puts her hands above her head when we say, "How big is Mackenzie? So big!" (well, most of the time anyway.) It is sooooo cute! Last, Greyson and Chloe cuddling - they are adorable.

Yuck!

The top picture is Kenz the other night - I tried to give her some cottage cheese that I had mashed with a fork, and she made the funniest face. Anything with texture makes her gag. The bottom one is her playing on the floor with her cup. She loves to put it up to her mouth and "talk" because of the echo it makes.

Some of Mackenzie's Week So Far

Hard at work, playing!

Mackenzie likes to scoot after the cat's tails. This time she caught Greyson's - he is really good with her, and I think he actually likes the attention (even if she is pulling out chunks of his fur).

Just Lookin' Around

Today Mackenzie was playing with her Nemo ball and she kept setting her chin down on it to look around. It was so funny! She is also perfecting her tummy-to-sitting-up move, and she has started picking up every little piece of lint, dirt, or string up off the floor (which is bad timing since our vacuum is broken!).

The other day we picked apples over at the park by our house. So this week we have had apple crisp, apple sauce (homemade and chunky - yum!), and apple dumplings. Chloe and Greyson just think they're fun to hit around the kitchen!

Mommy Greyson

Greyson and Chloe (that's the name we picked!) are adjusting really well to each other. Greyson has become very maternal towards Chloe. He follows her around all day and gives her baths every chance he gets. I think he actually kind of annoys her. Matt says that he has always known Greyson was a little girly.

Mackenzie's favorite thing to do is scoot over to her toy basket and dump the whole thing on the floor. Then she tries to pick up little pieces of wicker from the basket and eat them, and now that she is getting that pincer grasp down, we have to watch her really closely. I think we are going to get a new toy box that doesn't shed. Chloe also thinks that Mackenzie's toys are really fun.

Do you think she's a little unhappy about the hat?!

Tasty Tuesday - Easy Pasta Bake

Joyce Wagner gave me this recipe at my wedding shower a few years ago. It is really easy and really good - a twist on spaghetti, which is one of Matt's favorites.

Easy Pasta Bake
2 cups cooked pasta (like penne)
1 Jar of spaghetti sauce
1lb browned hamburger
2 cups mozzarella cheese
Parmesan Cheese
Brown hamburger. I like to add a little onion powder and 1 clove garlic. Add spaghetti sauce and half of mozzarella cheese, stir. Put the cooked pasta and the meat mixture in a 8x8 square dish and stir. Top with remaining mozzarella and sprinkle with parmesan. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10 minutes more or until cheese is melted.

Our New Addition

I sent Matt to the store on Saturday to get stuff for lunch since my parents were coming into town. He came home with bread, lunchmeat, chips, and a kitten! We have been thinking about getting another cat since we are gone a lot and our other cat gets really lonely and needy. So Matt went to the store and these people were outside with this one last kitten. Someone had dumped the whole litter on the side of the road, and they found them and have been taking care of them for the past few weeks. Matt decided to bring her home! She is tiny, but so cute and fun. She is adjusting really well, and is already litter trained. She and Greyson are also doing okay. They play a little bit, and he was kind of licking her today. I think they are going to be great friends in a few weeks. The only thing we aren't sure of is her name - Matt wants to name her Sheba, because he had a cat named Sheba when he was younger. I think she looks like a Chloe. So we will take a vote - what do you all think?
We are also having a great time with my parents. My dad is only here until Tuesday, but my mom gets to stay for a few weeks. We love having Grandpa and Grandma here!
